Day 1, Depart New York or Washington, DC
Day 2, Arrive Cape Town, South Africa
Welcome to Cape Town, where you are met on arrival and transferred to your lodging.

Day 3, Cape Town
Embark on a private exploration of the Cape peninsula. Travel along the coastal roadways, past quaint fishing villages and classic Cape Dutch architecture to the Cape of Good Hope, meeting place of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Arrive back at your hotel in time for a wine tasting and a private tour of their cellar. Enjoy a very special dinner this evening at Catharina's, Steenberg's newly renovated fine dining restaurant, which presided over by nationally acclaimed, local culinary whiz, Chef Garth Almazan.

Day 4, Cape Town
Start the day with a trip to the top of Table Mountain, over 3,500 ft above the city so bring a jacket. Then, it's time to practice your culinary skills and possibly add a few new spices to your pantry with a Cape Malay cooking class, starting with a shopping trip through the local market up through preparing your own lunch. After lunch, visit Groot Constantia, the oldest wine farm in South Africa. Besides wine tasting, additional stops are made to sample local chocolates and olives.

Day 5, Mpumalanga
Depart Cape Town via flight service en route to Mpumalanga, gateway to Kruger National Park and the surrounding private reserves. On arrival, you are met and transferred to your lodging in the Sabi Sands. Spend the afternoon on your first gamedrive in search of the big five.

Day 6, Mpumalanga
The day is filled with wildlife viewing opportunities during early morning and afternoon gamedrives. Open safari vehicles allow for superb photographic opportunities of the147 species of mammals and over 500 species of birds that have been documented in the region.

Day 7, Timbavati
After the morning game activity, it's a short bush flight north to the Timbavati for your next two nights. After lunch, head off into the bush in search of the local wildlife residents. During your two night stay at Jabulani, you will visit the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre for a look at a number of ongoing projects including cheetahs, wild dogs and vultures.

Day 8, Timbavati
Today brings another unique opportunity, the chance to make friends with the largest land dwelling mammals. The experience is all about elephants: exchange trunk greetings, help brush them down and share observations of their fascinating behavior. Then saddle up and enjoy a meandering trek through the bush. You have a choice of a morning or early evening excursion.

Day 9, Johannesburg
Fly on to Johannesburg today and wash of the dust of the bush while enjoying the comforts and amenities of your hotel, which has been voted "World's Leading Boutique Hotel" for the last six consecutive years and hosted numerous dignitaries and celebrities.

Day 10, Johannesburg
The morning starts with an excursion through Soweto for a closer look at life inside a township, follwed by a short drive north from town for another interactive wildlife encounter. This time, you get up close and personal with lions. After a briefing on lion behavior, it's a walk through the bush with the king on the jungle. Your final dinner in South Africa will be truly memorable with a very exclusive seat at the Chef's Table in the kitchen at The Saxon. From this enviable position, you'll witness the kitchen magic performed by the Chef Werner Snoek.

Day 11, Depart Johannesburg
This morning, take a journey through recent history with a visit to the Apartheid Museum. Depart Johannesburg late this afternoon aboard your return international service to the USA or extend your African adventure with an optional two night journey to Victoria Falls. (B)
