SELOUS SAFARI CAMP

Day 2-4, Selous Game Reserve
Selous is one of the world's largest game reserves and is quintessential East African wilderness. Wild and largely untouched by man, it contains a large concentration of elephant, buffalo, crocodile, hippo and wild dog, as well as plenty of lion, rhino, antelope and thousands of dazzling bird species. Special activities include guided walks, open-top four wheel drive game viewing and boat excursions on the river. The opportunity to experience fly tent camping for even more "on the edge" wildlife exposure is available and must be prearranged.

One of the main features of Selous is the huge Rufiji River, which has the largest water catchment area in East Africa. Three quarters of the Selous reserve consists of miombo woodland. The miombo cover the ridges around the Beho Beho River and Steiglers Gorge. Impressive riverine forests and dense impenetrable thickets are important habitats within the Selous.

During your stay you will have two safari excursions each day, including; game viewing in 4x4 vehicles, boat safari on the river and many canals and lakes with experienced rangers, walking safari, fishing, and bird watching.

Ruaha is one of the largest and wildest National Parks in the world, and one of the finest in Africa. Indeed, Ruaha remains as Africa once was generations ago, yet with all the comforts that today's traveller expects.

Ruaha National Park lies in central Tanzania just west of the Iringa Highlands. The Great Ruaha River begins as a series of clear mountain streams in the Southern Highlands of Tanzania before developing into an extremely beautiful and important feature of this great game park. Ruaha National Park, from a game enthusiast's point of view, offers a paradise of the outstanding natural world.

During your stay you will have two safari excursions each day, including; game viewing in 4x4 vehicles, all day game viewing drives with bush picnics and bird watching. A game walk through this magnificent park is a must if you want to get as close to nature as possible. For those with a truly wild heart, fly-camping is a wonderful option.
