FAQs

How long has African Travel, Inc. been in business?

African Travel, Inc. has been in business for over 36 years.

What destinations do you operate your safaris to / within Africa?

Most of our safaris visit Eastern (Kenya, Tanzania & Seychelles) Africa and Southern (South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia, Mauritius & Zimbabwe) Africa, as well as Egypt. We also operate gorilla trekking safaris to Rwanda and Uganda. Our newest destination is Dubai.

What type of programs do you offer?

Our programs include Individual Departures, consisting of safari itineraries which have been designed with inherent flexibility. Nothing is written in stone. The focus is on well paced, low density tourism with an emphasis on a singular experience. While some of these departures offer multiple levels of luxury, you can be assured only the best hotels with proper ambiance and location are suggested.

Unique to African Travel, our definition of a Small Group Departure is one that operates with a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 guests. We bring together like-minded travelers who enjoy meeting and sharing their experience. The group dynamic can provide an energy and exchange that, for many, is an enhancement that is missed when not in the company of other adventurers. Dates chosen for our Small Group Departures are for the most popular travel periods with wildlife and weather in mind.

Additionally we offer Off The Beaten Path programs which provide alternative travel adventures down ‘the road less traveled by’ to enrich and enhance your African travel experience. These special interest itineraries may require a certain degree of stamina but your extra effort will reap immeasurable rewards. These journeys have been designed so that they can stand alone or as a compliment to one of our Individual or Small Group Departures.

Exclusively Yours, AFRICA! is our collection of custom crafted, private and specialty safaris. For the traveler who wishes to experience an exclusive African journey, we offer an experience that reaches far beyond what is available in the world of ‘one tour fits all’ travel.

Can deviations be made to a brochure tour?

Yes, generally deviations can be made to any of our safari itineraries. In addition, we are pleased to suggest enhancements such as a spa treatment, a round of golf, a helicopter transfer, or a special wildlife experience.

What is the major difference between African Travel, Inc. and the other major wholesalers who sell travel to Southern and Eastern Africa?

We have a very dedicated, experienced staff, with over 460 combined years of travel expertise, who have in-depth knowledge of the destinations included in our tours. All of our tour programs are designed to be flexible to accommodate deviations which the traveller may wish to incorporate in the tour. Our staff of safari experts will be happy to custom-design a program to any of the areas in Southern and Eastern Africa and Egypt. We have enduring and successful relationships with our vendors, giving us the opportunity to offer competitive prices.
