
After completing a comprehensive survey and randomly interviewing our clients, African Travelhas earned the distinctive title of “Best Adventure Travel Company.” Each survey was scored from 1-100 in each of the following categories: Education, Sustainability, Quality of Service, and Spirit of Adventure. Researchers then randomly interviewed client references based on the same criteria.

TravelAge West’s WAVE (Western Agents’ Voice of Excellence) Awards give travel agents in the western U.S. the opportunity to recognize the outstanding qualities and services of their travel-supplier partners. Editor-in-Chief Ken Shapiro and the entire editorial team of TravelAge West made their selections on the basis of product analysis, on-site visits, a survey of a select group of travel agents and online research.

To qualify for inclusion a trip must meet certain criteria, among them providing interaction with local population, being environmentally friendly, and exemplifying best practices. The program, created for luxury clients, helps them uncover the mysteries of ancient Egypt with their own private Egyptologist who personally escorts the entire trip. All sightseeing is private, with time to linger at sites of special interest. In addition to one-on-one touring with an Egyptologist guide, the private program includes luxury accommodations, a home hosted dinner with an Egyptian family, round trip flight between Cairo and Luxor/Aswan, most meals and a day room prior to the return flight home. The itinerary features three nights Cairo, one in Luxor and five days cruising the Nile.
